DON'T LOOK BACK

 Genesis19:17, Luke 9:62

The heavenly race which we are running as believers, is a race where looking back is prohibited.

To look back means casting your mind to the former things you repented from.

We need to understand that all the things that happened of old that is recorded in the bible, is for the utilization of me and you (2 Timothy 3:16). The bible is not written for the devil to use, but for the children of God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ who came to save us & to show us the way to the Father, while He was on earth with as a fleshy being like me and you, He encountered temptations that would have made Him look back, we have read His prayer in the Mount of Olives where He was telling His Father “Luke 22:42:- If You are willing, remove this cup from me…”.

WHAT MAKES BELIEVERS LOOK BACK

Former Fashion / Old Nature (Ephesians 4:22)
You can’t call yourself a believer and yet you are still operating with your natural mindset, because you can’t use the mindset of humanity to comprehend the mysteries of divinity.

That is the reason He first welcome us as a new creature, New Creature because, our former mindset has been formatted / brainwashed.

  Deceitful friends (1 Corinthians 15:33)
The faithful man of God in the bible named Job would have look back and change his confession of faith especially during the time his wife enticed him to do so (Job 2:9). Never you just conclude on the advice any one gives you especially when it is related to your fellowship with God.

CONSEQUENCES OF LOOKING BACK

Disqualify you from God’s Kingdom (Luke 9:62)
When your attention is continuously on your past worldly characters, you are completely disqualify from God’s Kingdom because He said such people are not fit for His Kingdom.

  Distraction (James 1:6-8)
You can’t focus because your concentration is divided, you are now thinking of where is the best place to be is, and what is the best option to take.

  Stagnation: (Numbers 14:32-35)
The time that you would have used to move forward you are busy comparing and contrasting. When you consider the previous life more comfortable than your present life then for you to move ahead will actually be very difficult.

God Himself hate someone that cherished his past worldly life than the new creature he is now, that is the reason He punished the Israelites.

  Backsliding (Exodus 14:10-12, Numbers 14:2-3)
Many has look back and fall apart, many has look back and miss their destiny

HOW TO OVERCOME LOOKING BACK
Why did you left that state in the first place?
You have been in it for years but there is no good outcome in it to promote your fellowship with God.

        Why the new move?
Remember the reason you change your mind from who your where and started this new relationship with God, remember His unexpressed blessing of Eternal life.

        Backward never
Have it in your inner mind that the glory of your yesterday can’t be comprehended with the spendour of your tomorrow, because your tomorrow must be greater than your today

Jesus was in a great distress when He asked His Father to take away the cup but when He remembered the redemption and salvation of mankind which He came for, He concluded “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thy will be done”.

  • Job said I won’t give up although my yesterday was very greater than my today.
  • Daniel said to himself I won’t give up unless I receive the answer to my prayer.
  • Hannah said I won’t give up until God take away this reproach of bareness from me.

Time and space will fail me if I dare try to list them all

Conclusion: Beloved brethren, with we humans it is impossible but not with God, because with God all things are completely possible (Mark 10:27).

While running the heavenly race, our heavenly Father says we should look you to Jesus the Author and the Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).

It is recorded in the gospel of Luke 21:28 now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your head, because your redemption is drawing near.

IN ANY SITUATION OR PROBLEM THAT YOU SEE YOURSELF,

NEVER YOU LOOK UP TO THE PROBLEM

BUT LOOK UP TO JESUS.
