FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD OR FRIENDSHIP WITH THE WORLD

Text: James 4:4

Memory Verse: Matt. 6:21,24,33-34

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be yours as well. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon…

From our bible text, (James 4:4 Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”)  God says all those that makes friendship with the world, those that cherish the things of the world are known as Unfaithful Creatures. God made this things so that man can utilize them at the appropriate time. God has a perfect reason for doing anything He has ever done, He has a perfect plan for creating the tree of knowledge and the tree of life, If only Adam was able to wait for the appointed time so that the will of God will be made manifest.

 

Any child that refuses to be contented with the wealth of his parent and therefore go against their will has trespass and transgress. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. (Matt 7:20)

 

Point 1: The Lifestyles of the Friends of God

John 15:14-15, John 14;15

As a friend of God, before you implement any decision, you are expected to first inquire from God, your conscience and the spirit of God must be in agreement.

It is not all about knowing the scriptures or having an active fellowship with God, Joshua had an active fellowship with God yet the Gibeonite deceived him, he was deceived because he never inquired of God before taking the decision Josh 9:14-15 … but did not inquire of the Lord.

 

There are people that commits sin freely and sees it as a lifestyles. while there are people that sin irritates and these ones that sin irritates are the friends of God.

 

Ps 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

God recommend that His friends should feed on His world at all times in order to be spiritually and physically prosperous (Joshua 1:8)

 

Point 2: The Lifestyles of the Friends of the World

Romans 8:5-8

Whosever set his mind on the things of the flesh is the friend of the world, when you see sin as a game of the flesh.

Those that sees sins as a lifestyles and fall into it anytime it surface are known to be the friends of the world because they set the their flesh as their priority, they prefer to satisfy the desire of the flesh, they please the flesh and displeased the spirit. Cain was offended that his offering was rejected so the next ting he could do was to kill his brother even when God was warning him yet he refused. Gen. 4:3-8

Point 3: Where Do You Belongs? (To God or To The World)

Romans 8:9

Are you a friend of God or a friend of the world? Is the flesh your priority or the spirit? Do you respect the flesh more than the Spirit? Do you value the flesh more than the Spirit?

You on your own you can tell if you are a friend of God or not, the Spirit of God is the Stamp / Seal that proves you are a child of God (Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:11).

 

 

Conclusion:  

James 1:8:- A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

There is no child of God that lives according to the flesh neither is there any child of the world that lives according to the spirit. So beloved brethren, just as Joshua said “Choose you this day whom you shall serve”

 

Make the Decision Today, Because Tomorrow May Be Too Late
